Closing Statement
Before going to NWTC for Early Childhood Education, I didn't exactly know what I actually wanted to do. I did know that I love working with children, so I thought this field was a good place to start. I was fresh out of high school; with little experience with kids since I babysit my cousins and niece. I was very nervous going into college just, because I didn't know what to expect, but I have to say I'm glad I went to NWTC Green Bay for my education. What made extra special was the instructors. Honestly I have never met sweet and caring teachers before that will help you with anything. I felt extremely comfortable with the instructors and I want to thank them for their help! Whoever goes into the Early Childhood Education program at NWTC Green Bay are extremely lucky to get these instructors. Thanks for help!
Other than the wonderful instructors; my whole experience change when going into this program. I didn't realize there's so much to learn when it comes to working with children. Also the practicum's were the best experience, because you get the actually experience to working with children. Times were rough sure, but overall it was the best experience I have every done in my life! I really enjoy the practicums! Also because of these experiences I have grown more as a teacher to these children. When I first started I was completely lost on what to do when problems happen or how to work with special needs. I have to admit before practicum 3, I usually stood away from special need children; not that I didn't like them or judge them, I just didn't know what to do and it scared me when they started acting out. Practicum 3 has taught me the most when it comes to working with special needs. I remember my cooperating teacher assistant told me my first day "Eventually you will see this children as any normal children. You will love these children as if their just like any other children." As time passed by I didn't see their problems I just saw children that wanted to be treated and love like any other children. Thanks to these experiences, I grew into a better teacher but not only that a better person as well.
My goals as I move forward: Well first I just want to get a job, so I can continue on this learning experience. Overall though, I just want to work with young children and help many families that I can. I just want to become an honest, caring, passionate teacher that all young children can learn from me. I want to help raise the next generations of children! I want to help out parents by giving them advice or just being there to listen! I want to work with a great team to help raise the next generation! I'm still deciding what I want to do with my life. I hoping I can go back to school to continue my education of becoming a caregiver/teacher.
Going through this portfolio has shown me how many things I had to overcome to get to this point of time. How many things I have learned from this program and how many great adults and children I have met and that have help me grow as educator. I'm honestly glad we got to do a portfolio then final exams, because this process actually shows you what you did and how you change. From learning about guiding behaviors to learning about how many curriculum's that is out there. NWTC Green Bay Early Childhood Education has been a great experience for me to grow as a caring teacher that will help with the growing process of children's development. Thanks so much!
