ECE 4: Use Best Practices in Teaching and Learning
A. You Plan and Implement Developmentally Appropriate Activities Across Domains
I have chosen this artifact that I did in my Curriculum Planning class that I did in J-term. This artifact shows that I know how to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities across domains. This assignment is my unit plan in Curriculum planning that I design for school-ages. It shows how I can plan around large group time, small group activities, outdoor activities, self care, dramatic play, sensory, library, writing, math, science, music, art, blocks, and computer. After I did this assignment, I really learned how to plan around the curriculum and the environment. This assignment has taught me some new skills that will help with my lead week and in my future class.
B. You Provide Culturally Responsive Materials and Activities
I have chosen this artifact that I did in my curriculum planning class in J-term. This assignment shows that I know how to plan activities for the appropriate developmentally ages. I provided culturally responsive materials and activities. I design the activity plan of peek-a-boo for infants since its a appropriate activity for babies. I remember doing this activity with one of my practicum infants and he love this activity. I now know how to plan appropriate activities with ages birth to eight.
C.You Adapt Activities to Meet Children’s Individuals Needs
I have chosen this artifact from my practicum 2 class that I did in my second semester of school. It shows individualizing plans for children. I focus on their family, culture, life experiences, strengths, diversity in learning, characteristics of the child, and developments. Afterwards, I wrote what I would change for this specific child for environment, transitions/routines/daily schedule, and interactions. I chose this artifact, because it demonstrates how I adapted to this specific child individual needs.
D. You Apply Play-Based Curriculum
I have chosen this artifact, because this artifact is the prop box that I did in my curriculum planning class in J-term. I apply a play-based curriculum with my shopping theme. My shopping theme shows young children how to do math, count money, write shopping lists, scenarios, etc. I learned that when you apply real world themes to children's play that's when they learned the best. As a result of this assignment, I will add real life scenarios to play.
E. You Use Developmentally Appropriate Care Giving Routines as Curriculum
I have chosen this artifact from my practicum 3 class that I did in my third semester. This artifact shows that I used a developmentally appropriate care giving routine to help my focus child with matching the clothes pin to the color. I choose this artifact to demonstrate that I can plan developmentally appropriate care giving routines for an individual child.
F. You Incorporate Positive Guidance Techniques
I have chosen this artifact from my guiding class that I did in my first semester of school. This artifact shows what policies that I would like to see in a center: rules, routines, environment, teachers, and discipline. I believe policies are important for the staff to follow,
so centers are high quality and ran the proper way. There shouldn't be harsh punishments, strict rules or routines, unsafe environments, uneducated teachers, etc.
G. You Plan Developmentally Appropriate Environments
I have chosen this Anti-bias classroom observation artifact from my Arts,Music, and Language Arts that I did in my second semester. This artifact shows that I know what I’m looking for when it comes to finding things that represent disabilities, families, diverse people, different ages, etc. I choose this artifact, because it shows that I can make observations of other rooms and decide what I want to plan for my future room. I can plan developmentally appropriate environments after this observation assignment.
